Specification for Design and Use of SMT Printer Printing Supports and Support Pin Covers

2025-06-09
This specifICation regulates the production, acceptance, use, and maintenance processes of support pin covers and supports to ensure printing quality.

1. Design and Use of Support Pin Covers

(1) Purpose

To standardize the placement positions of support pins and accept supports.

(2) Material

Transparent acrylic board, with a thickness of 1.5 - 4.0mm.

(3)

The factory marks the arrangement positions of support PINs according to the board Gerber and production flow. The distance between the support PIN and components is > 5mm.

(4)

Markings should be made on the support pin cover. The marking information should include at least the following items, and mark the printing board - feeding direction:
  • ① Jig Name: Pin Cover;
  • ② PCB PN: e.g., YPCB - 00824 - 1P2;
  • ③ Board Side: T (Top side) or B (Bottom side) or T&B (for both sides);
  • ④ Revision: A, B, C……;

(5)The overall dimension of the support pin cover is designed and processed at a 1:1 ratio to the PCB board size, with a deviation < 0.5mm.

(6) Acceptance

  • ① Confirm that the overall dimension of the cover meets the requirements;
  • ② No missing markings at component positions;
  • ③ The positions of support pins are set reasonably, with no inteRFerence with components, and the clearance distance is safe;

2. Design and Use of Printing Supports

(1) Material Requirements

Select metal materials that are not easily deformed. Generally, aluminum alloys (2A11/A6061/7075) are selected.

(2)All specifications and dimensions must match the equipment requirements.

(3)Positioning method of supports: magnet or magnet + locating pin.

(4)The hollow - out positions and support positions are designed according to the PCB Gerber:

  • ① The depth of the bottom hollow - out is 5mm. For relatively high special components, the depth is specified separately. In principle, the hollow - out depth is 1mm greater than the component height. Appropriate tolerances need to be reserved for the hollow - out areas of different components, and the bottom support should be uniform;
  • ② On the premise that the clearance space allows, supports need to be added at the bottom of important component positions (BGA/DDR/IC, etc.), and the edges of the support columns should be chamfered;

(5)Design the positions of vacuum - extraction holes evenly according to the board characteristics.

(6)Flatness requirement: ≤ 0.1mm.

(7)The total height H of the support must meet the equipment requirements. For example, if the support for the PCB panel adopts a cavity - type design: the sinking height h is equal to the PCB thickness minus 0.5mm; the cavity length L is equal to the PCB length plus 2mm (1mm tolerance on each side). The width W of the support is equal to the PCB width minus 10 - 20mm (5 - 10mm tolerance on each side); the flatness of the support for the PCB panel is ≤ 0.1mm.

(8) Marking Requirements

Mark the jig number in the blank and flat area of the base. The number should include at least the following information:

  • ① Jig Name: Printing Support;
  • ② PCB PN: e.g., YPCB - 00824 - 1P2;
  • ③ Board Side: T (Top side) or B (Bottom side);
  • ④ Revision: A, B, C……;
  • ⑤ Serial Number: 01, 02, 03……;

3. Acceptance Requirements

(1) Appearance

The surface is smooth without burrs, and right angles and acute angles are rounded.

(2) Processing Dimensions

Use calipers/tape measures to confirm that the dimensions of each component meet the design requirements. After assembly, confirm again that the length, width, height, and cavity dimensions of the support meet the design requirements.

(3)Flatness ≤ 0.1mm.

(4)The marking information of the jig is complete and correct.

(5) Printing Confirmation

Install it on the printer for test printing to confirm the printing effect.
